Save Money on DVDs For Kids and Yourself with a Netflix Subscription
Netflix information and my review
I have a three out-at-a-time Netflix DVD Rental account that is a lifesaver. It saves me a lot of money on kid's dvds every month. When Joe was younger, I bought him dvds that it seemed he liked. I now have a huge shelf full of dvds that he refuses to watch. In fact, I'm currently selling most of them on ebay, for like a quarter of what I paid for them, because he's too old for them. Netflix solves this issue.
How it works
I pay just under $20 a month (which is just over the cost of one dvd). I maintain a queue at Netflix, which is basically a list of the movies I want to rent. I can rearrange it however I want. Netflix sends me three dvds. I can keep each of these dvds as long as I want - I have an "I Love Trains" in the living room right now that we have had out for over a month because my son loves it so much. If we rented something that he didn't like so much we would just send it right back and Netflix would send us the next dvd on the list.
How Fast The DVDs Arrive
This actually surprises me: I live in Hawaii, on an outer island, and everything takes forever to get here - except my Netflix videos. I am pretty sure they don't have a warehouse on the main island so they must have one in California, because it usually only takes a day for my videos to get here. I know this because they seem to really care about turnaround time and how fast the videos arrive as they sometimes send me emails asking me when the video arrived. I've heard they have over 30 warehouses around the country so everyone should have one near them.
The Selection
We have rented all the Baby Einstein Videos, and similar titles like Brainy Baby, Baby Good Sports, and Baby Genius. Currently my son is on a train kick, so our queue is full of Thomas the Tank Engine and I Love Trains videos. Sometimes my husband gets new releases and sometimes I get sitcoms like Everybody loves Raymond, Friends, Frasier, and Seinfeld - Netflix has all the seasons. They also have Disney movies Toy Story and Cinderella.
