Paintastic’s Paint Pens Review
My son saw the Paintastic paint pens in Walmart and wanted them so we got them. He painted with them a few times but they have sat fairly unused since then. They are nice, in my opinion because they allow a child to get the efftect of paint without Mom having to get out the paint and the brushes and without any major cleanup afterwards, but other than that I don’t think they are that special. They would probably really be nice for traveling, especially if you have a child who loves to paint and can be trusted not to paint on anything but paper.
Each pen is about the size of a normal pen - just a little fatter and longer - and one end has the brush sticking out of it with a lid on it. The colors come out fairly bright, but definitely don’t have the same oomph as regular paint would. They go on the paper flat and dry almost immediately - which is nice in that the mess-making potential is less than regular paint - but the colors can’t possibly be as bright as paint that stands seperate from the paper.
My favorite part is the magic wand. It’s a paint wand with a brush at both ends. You can go over your painted picture and make a different color with the magic wand. Purple becomes pink. Green becomes yellow. Black becomes rusty orange. You can also paint with the magic wand and then color over the top with the paints and get some neat effects.
I recommend paintastics for girls, boys, homeschoolers, unschoolers, and everyone.
