D199 is a newly available diesel engine. I have seen mention on the toy store sites that he was sent away and is now back and on the latest Thomas catalog it says new look in bright red letters next to him. However he was not available in the prior catalog so I'm not sure what his story is. According to the toy stores D199 is in the video Steamies vs. Diesels, however I can't find him in there. This diesel train is large and long with four wheels on each side like diesel 10. He is a bright blue with a yellow face. He supposedly has the typical nasty diesel attitude.

There are three types of Thomas the tank engine sets: wooden trains with wooden track, metal trains with plastic track, and plastic trains with plastic track. The sets are not interchangeable, really, as the metal trains are too small for the wooden track and the plastic trains will not fit on the track for the metal trains, etc. All of these toys are built to last- I have never had one break.
