About Neil the small engine

Neil is an extremely small green engine with a very unique look. Neil's personality trait is that he's very kind -- he works at the docks transporting goods in. Neil is discontinued but he can still be found at eBay for decent prices.

These trains make really great gifts. If you know a child who likes Thomas, it's always easy to figure out what to get them for presents. A bad point is that Thomas can be quite expensive. If your child likes Thomas you may also want to consider geotrax for the younger set and brio trains for less expensiveness.

My son has played with his Thomas trains since he was under 1 year old. We were introduced to Thomas on a short plane trip-the family behind us was entertaining their twin toddlers boys (about 20 months old) with several trains. My boy was fascinated with them and the family gave us a train. I think the train was Duncan, and they said they had several of him.

All Thomas trains are high quality and very durable. Most of our trains come used either from ebay or from friends and relatives then they all work great despite minor cosmetic flaws. Thomas trains are one of those things that your children can pass on to their children.

Thomas trains and sets come in wood, plastic, and metal trains. None of the train sets are really set up to be played with the other ones - for example, metal trains will not fit on wooden track. All of these toys are built to last- I have never had one break.
