Reviews of Veggie Tales Tapes, DVDs and Videos

Veggie Tales tell the tales of the bible and teach the values associated with bible teaching using vegetables and fruit as characters. It's really quite cute. The most popular character is probably Larry the Cucumber, who is in most of the tales with his sidekick, Bob the Tomato. There is a lot of singing and an explicit review of the moral lesson and the end. My young toddler doesn't like these at all, but when he was a young baby (six (6) months to about nine (9) months he would watch or listen to a veggietales video for a little while, long enough for me to quickly make some food or something. Anything with Junior Asparagus really got his attention - probably Junior's voice. I have hopes that when he is older and can reason along with the dialog he will enjoy these again.

  A film released at the box office that was well-received by most. As with all veggie tales, teaches a christian message from the bible.

  A lesson for two boys about the real meaning of Christmas.

• Madame Blueberry
  A timely lesson against consumerism and for being thankful for what you have. Great songs in this one.

• Dave and the Giant Pickle
  A lesson in self-esteem based on the bible tale of David and Goliath with Junior Asparagus as Dave.

• VeggieTales - An Easter Carol
  Light story about the real meaning of Easter.

• Veggie Tales, The Ballad of Little Joe
  Entertaining look at the virtue of forgiveness, with a lot of singing.

• Where's God when I'm S-Scared?
  2 short 15 minute stories split up by a silly song. Both are quite light and deal with fear, the second a version fo Daniel and the Lion's Den.

• Veggie Tales, the Complete Silly Song Collection
  I know adults without small children who have bought cds of the Silly Songs, they are that good. Our boy really enjoys them with or without the video.
